There isn’t any local more perfect for your beach wedding than Pensacola Beach. Located on the Florida panhandle it has the most beautiful sandy beaches spanning 52 miles of coastline, the waters are sparkling clear, and you get more than 300 days of sunshine. Your guests can stay in any of the various hotels and homes that are along the beach.
There is a lot to consider when planning your beach wedding. Some things you may not have thought of with your traditional wedding. Here are some tips to help you:
1) First, make sure to check the weather reports in the area for what time the tides come in, when it sets, etc. so you can plan accordingly. December through February in Pensacola can be cold on the beach with average temperatures in the low 60’s.
2) You may want to plan your beach wedding around the annual events that take place in Pensacola. For example:

April: Jazz it up at the Jazz Festival
Blue Angels Air Show in July
Seafood Festival in September
October: Enjoy the fair atmosphere during the Interstate Fair in Pensacola
November: Enjoy the Homcoming Show for the Blue Angels

3) Consider having you reception at sunset. Your guest will thank you, especially during the hot summer months.
4) If you planning your wedding around one of the Pensacola annual events, then keep the food along the same theme. See if you can find a special order bakery that will make you a Blue Angels’ cake. Or if you having it during the Seafood Festival have seafood as your main dish. Keep the food light with salads and fruits. Your guests likely won’t want to dine on heavier full course meals during hot temperatures.
5) Many weddings use confetti and balloons, but you’ll find that they make a mess on the beach that can be difficult to clean up. Besides, they are not exactly environmentally friendly.
6) Go easy on the decorations. They can detract from the beautiful sandy beach wedding.
7) A good portion of your decorations you can find right on the beach. Seashells, clam shells, sand dollars, etc. can be the perfect centerpieces.
If your reception will be going into the evening, get some Christmas lights or lanterns to decorate the reception area. You won’t have to worry about them blowing out in the wind or blowing out in the wind.
9) You can also have your reception pool-side if you think all that sand may be an issue for you or your guests. There are a lot of beach side resorts that offer this.
10) Since weather can be an issue, you’ll definitely want to get a canopy – preferably one this is open on the sides. It will protect you and your guests from the sun and the rain. Plus, adds a nice focal point for the reception.
11) When choosing colors for a beach wedding go with lighter tones. Dark colors retain heat and you’ll want to make sure everyone is comfortable.
12) Then there’s the music. Anything by the Beach Boys is good, or go with some Reggae like UB40 or Bob Marley.
13) It would be a good idea to hire your own lifeguard. If you have young guests, this is an important safety precaution.
14) There are a lot things to do in Pensacola from boating and fishing to taking a cruise and diving the artificial reef. The Oriskany is the biggest one ever made. Watch the Blue Angels from March until November at the Navel Aviation Museum. If your looking for something more family friendly try Sam’s Fun City which as a water park and arcade.
